Speech: Ms. Cruz implores to MDCPS Board: "Honor teachers!"
EXCELLENT SPEECH!
Ivonne Cruz has been teaching for 19 years, yet she only makes $5,000 more than a beginning teacher.
In this speech, she speaks to how both veteran grandfathered (tenured) and performance pay (entry-level) teachers are being denied income to which they are legally entitled to.
Her impassioned words state the sad truth, teachers are:
"...vulnerable to the decisions of this [Miami-Dade School] Board."
"...living pay-check-to-paycheck."
"...feeling cheated and undervalued."
"...forced to work two jobs."
She implores the Miami-Dade County School Board to honor teachers by showing them true leadership and providing them with clear answers.
